Well,
I made two images, which I posted here earlier, and planet and a nebula, but neither of them were very interesting. So I thought maybe if I put the planet in the nebula pic it might be better. And then I thought maybe if I add some more smoke and light coming out of the planet it would be better. And then I thought a beam of light (or comet?) hitting the planet would make it look even better. And it did. So I added a shockwave thing and a few more touchs and here it is. Theres still some things that I need to do, like make the smoke around the beam near the end more smokey looking and some other minor configurations but its basicly finished. And I might sell prints at zazzle or somewhere, see who would buy it :)
Favs, comments, critism/suggestions, and everything encouraged.
Took about 12 hrs all together probably. All done in Photoshop 7.

I do believe I saw the previous one earlier, though I like this one better.

Look amazing!! Great amount of detail and nice colors too. I like the effects a lot too, but you could maybe make it a little bit sharper. Still this is great!!

wow these space pics ruleee man!!!
great job.
you've got a knack for good atmosphering - nicely done, though for some reason i find the shockwave a lil weird to me... judging by your beam, it seems like its a high energy flux beam, so at the point of impact with the planet the shockwave spreads extremely fast - in multiple wavelengths and velocity. therefore i feel, although what you might want to depict here is the beginning of impact when the shockwave just started, there should be one or two more waves, at wide spread and veeeeeeeeery low opacity. =)

*ooh effects of too much university level maths and physics getting into my head*
