This was originally for a collab with ~ psamtik, which he will submit his version of soon.
But I decided I would replace his planets with my own, mostly because I wanted to sell the print of it.
So, this was done over the span of a week, alot of work went into it. The psd's (yes multiple, so my computer would cope) add up to over 1GB filesize.
Original Resolution: 6000x4500px
:) and i didnt use the smudge tool once. I still like ti use a brush for everything, tho some might say smudging is easier.

And thanks to *d1git, *absolutehalo and *j4m3sb0nd for their advice!
I think im gonna remove the big planet and carry on the nebula, I think the planet sorta ruins it.

Mmm, shiny, looks a bit more like a painting than the planet type stuff I do... although I must say, I don't put nearly as much work into them as this. The straight vertical lens flare is a bit distracting.

wow, that nebula looks very buetiful, very nice colour blends and motion! yeah, the planets sortof ruin it, but i reckon it still looks fantastic! i really love the middle right part of the nebula, the part just above the planet, very cool effect!

I have to agree with the majority of the constructive criticism you've already received, so I don't feel I can add to it too much. However, I do think the "sparkle/shine" (or what have you) should be toned down a bit. It seems a little too fake in comparison to some of your other work. Still though, you continue to create very beautiful pieces.

I agree with you in a way, that big planet, though it looks great, just doesnt fit the piece. Maybe make it a little smaller and a different color, like blue maybe. Awesome work with the nebula and the lighting and even the colors  The fact that you didn't smudge is easy to see and makes this even better!

regardless of whether the planet ruins it - is it the SAME planet again? oh my gawd you should make another one!!!! yeah but I love the smooth gracefulness your your nebula brushing-style, it's your own style coz I can't trace it to anywhere else - so :star: for that methinks. The colours are also spectacurlarly beautiful!

The nebulae feel much more clumsy in places than all of your previous ones....I'm not sure what it is, but I think the curves are less graceful. AND.......you're STILL! using light yellow instead of white in some places, and teh colors still feel too pastel and picturesque to be realistic.

I'd also make the diffraction star horizontal....it just kind of throws the viewer, rather than being a fresh new perspective like you may have intended. And, as you know, of course, the planet's clouds need work.

Sorry for only pointing out the bad, but I think it does more good that way, in the long run. But don't think that means it's bad, because it's still quite good. Not your best, but not the worst.

Re Clumsiness: I dont think there are many nebulae that have perfect curves, shapes or colours. They always look random. But I do see that there are parts that dont seem to fit in the "flow" of the piece.

Re Yellow: I dont see whats wrong with using yellow in some bright parts. Its just the same as having bright pink parts, or cyan.
But I will try not to use yellow in any new pieces ok.

Re vertical/horizontal flare: One reason I left it vertical was because I would have gone back into the first 300 mb psd to rotate the flare, then copy flattened version of the psd, take that to the next 320 mb psd, paste it as the base layer, then do that again to another 300mb psd, and then take it to the final 150 mb psd so that I kept the same colours, effects etc as what it looked like as vertical (and this would take soooooo long to do!). And another reason that I kept it as vertical is because if it were horizontal it would cover a main part of the nebula and that seemed to be worse than keeping it vertical, where it was out of the way, just to stick to the norm of a horizontal flare.

Re planet clouds: yea, it was really late last night and i just wanted to submit it, lol, but I'm gonna change the planet (maybe shrink it and move it so its a smaller planet, or a moon) and either make a better planet to replace that, or carry on the nebula so that there wasnt a massive planet blocking the view.

Anyway, thanks for the comment, it did do some good, but I think in the future you should also include some positive feedback / praise so it doesnt feel like you absolutely hate it, especially when youve just spent a week trying to do your best.

My bad. It's still a great piece, as usual. I like the planet's surface a lot, and the nebulae is very good as usual, too. I have no idea how you pull off that brushed style, so consider yourself better than me ;)

You're right, light yellow is no different from light blue or light anything. However, that's only true if it's light yellow in the brightest part of a yellow nebula. You have a habit of using yellow in the middle of pink nebulae, blue nebulae, etc. The yellow isn't the only problem though, and it's driving me nuts. Something about your colors is usually irksome, and I still can't figure out what.
